One of the major goals for the campaign is to offer every Catholic family in the parishes an opportunity to learn about and participate in the campaign.

By following the Guidance In Giving, Inc. campaign plan parishes can ensure that their families learn about the vision for Beacon of Faith and be provided ample opportunity to financially support the effort.

The campaign plan calls for a “Good Faith Effort” on behalf of parish leadership as outlined in the Campaign Leadership Manual and by the Guidance In Giving, Inc. parish Campaign Director.  

Specifically, conducting a “Good Faith Effort” on behalf of parish leadership will include, but are not limited to:
Preparation Phase

• Positive disposition toward the vision of the Beacon of Faith campaign
• Submit the parish donor database to be used by the campaign director to help plan parish receptions
• Work with the campaign director to outline a campaign plan and calendar of activities
• Recruiting parish campaign leadership: General Chairperson, Reception Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Technology Chair, Mass Captain, Parish Outreach Chairperson, Campaign/Parish Secretary (recruit a Campaign Committee)

Reception Phase

• Mailing invitations and follow-up letter to increase participation at parish receptions
• Allow volunteers to make follow-up calls to parishioners
• Hosting Major/Special/General Gift receptions and gatherings.
• Be present at all campaign receptions to pray for and present the campaign in the context of the larger diocesan church needs and local parish needs
• Mail out thank you letters and conduct follow-up volunteer calls

General Education Phase

• Weekly newsletters and pulpit announcements regarding campaign progress
• Video Weekend – introduce and show the campaign video at all the weekend Masses
• Lay Witness Weekend – introduce the parish’s campaign chair to speak regarding the overall Beacon of Faith campaign and the benefit to the parish.  

Commitment Phase

• Approve the general mailing materials with a minimum “ask” level to be determined with assistance from the campaign director
• Conduct Commitment Weekend in the time frame outlined in the initial campaign plan.
• Conduct Commitment Weekend asking the entire parish family to support the campaign to the best of their ability by filling out their pledge card at Mass on that day.

Follow-up Phase

• Conduct follow-up activities including: mailings, phone calls and personal contacts.
• Using periodic campaign updates into the parish bulletin.
• Employing regular pulpit announcements with campaign updates.
• Utilize the parish website to communicate and update the parish family regarding the Beacon of Faith Campaign
